Few Baby Boomers Financially Prepared For Retirement

According to the Insured Retirement Institute only 54% of baby boomers have tried to calculate a financial goal for retirement, just 45% have consulted with a financial planner and 43% do not consider themselves knowledgeable about making financial investments. In terms of preparedness, the overall attitude of Boomers nearing retirement is pessimistic, with 6 out of 10 expressing concern about outliving their retirement savings.

Insurance Gaps for Ireen Floods

Better Business Bureau Warns of Job Scams

It’s a tough time for job seekers, and scammers are taking advantage of that through online posts, according to KXTV News 10. The Better Business Bureau says people in the Sacramento region are complaining of job scams, especially work-at-home schemes. It’s tough enough trying to get through in this economy. Social Security Disability – Running Out Of Money?

Laid-off workers and baby boomers are flooding Social Security’s disability program with benefit claims, pushing the financially strapped system toward the brink of insolvincy. Applications are up nearly 50% over a decade ago as people with disabilities lose their jobs and can’t find new ones in an economy that has shed nearly 7 million jobs.

The stampede for benefits is adding to agrowing backlog of applicants – many waiting two years or more before their cases are resolved.

Is it time to think about making sure we and our loved ones are protected outside the government programs?

The federal government’s standard of need bears little relation to reality for many senior citizens, particularly in high-cost housing. This article presents a view many of us are not aware of. Alzheimer’s Hitting People Under 50

Found this article in the Paper this morning. It addresses situations where Alzheimer’s is starting to affect people under 50 years. “At 65 and younger, most people don’t expect this diagnosis. They have many responsibilities, and they haven’t slowed down, either physically or mentally.” This is quite a disturbing realization and addresses the issue … are we protected against any unforseen event that could financially destroy our immediate and extended family?
